Our story
Motion Matters opened its doors in 1999, just steps away from its current downtown Ottawa location. Owners Donna Lamport-Durocher and Joƫlle Segers were convinced of the need for a high quality care facility, with friendly and professional staff in central Ottawa.
Our passion and hard work soon translated into growing customer demand from those who valued our approach. Happily our staff began to grow with the addition of physiotherapist assistants, essential administrative staff and another physiotherapist.
Suddenly five years went by after our opening, and Motion Matters needed a new home. Our move allowed us to expand our services and equipment; as well as accommodate our growing team of support staff and six physiotherapists.
In late 2006 we had the opportunity to expand our space significantly and to offer our clients an Exercise and Rehabilitation Centre. The Centre is right next door to the Clinic, and offers personal training, Pilates, Tai Chi, dancers' conditioning classes, and pre-natal programs. We plan to offer additional rehabilitation and fitness services from the Centre in the future.
While continuing to grow, Motion Matters takes pride in participating in various opportunities in the Ottawa community to promote health, well-being and injury prevention. At our facility we also encourage student learning with our mentorship affiliation with local secondary and university co-operative programs.
