Isabelle Despres

Isabelle Després has recently joined the Motion Matters team as a physiotherapist and a personal trainer. She graduated in 2006 from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Physiotherapy. She also graduated from The University of Western Ontario in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree of Arts in Kinesiology where her focus of study was exercise physiology.

Isabelle specializes in manual therapy and sport rehabilitation. She assures a quick return to sport and to the activities of daily living which are dear to all of us. She has a strong background in competitive sports which reflects in her enthusiasm and energy at work.

With her experience as an athlete, Isabelle takes on her work with a focus on precision and perfection of movement. She believes that with good biomechanics and muscular balance the athlete can achieve the speed and power needed for optimum performance.

She has competed nationally as a hurdler and a weightlifter, provincially as a gymnast, soccer, tennis and rugby player. Maybe one day she will be able to compete internationally in weightlifting. Isabelle also has her level 1 in coaching for weightlifting.

Isabelle is continuing her post university studies with a focus in manual therapy and sport therapy. She has finished her level 3 upper quadrant in manual therapy. Her goal is to become an advanced manual therapist and to learn more of the osteopathic approach to therapy. In sport therapy she has worked with the Gee-Gees women's soccer team at the University of Ottawa for 2 years and the Myers Riders football club for 5 years now.
